Babysitters Cupcakes!

Hi!
My husband and I have not had a proper date in a very long time, so e decided to do just that. We called a friend in to babysit for us and then we went out for dinner, bowling and a movie. Because it was clear already from the beginning that we would be late(the movie started at 23:15!) I wanted to make sure that our Babysitters sweet-tooth was very happy! So I made her some cupcakes worthy of the lifesaver/nightsaver that she is! I made devilfoodcake cupcakes(mmmmm...) with vanilla frosting and Chocolate sprinkles. Personally I don't like chocolate on chocolate as it's way tooo much so I went for vanilla. It's a classic, and there should be no way that she wont like them. I am on a NO SUGAR diet at the moment.. when I mean no sugar, I mean NO SUGAR, or pasta. rice, bread or potatoes! so I couldn't even taste them, but hopefully they tasted as good as I thought they looked(or maybe they just looked good because I am having MAJOR withdrawl symptoms). There were a couple gone from the plate when we got home and she was pleased when I said I'd box the rest up for her. So all n all I think it was a success! Here they are! xx
P.S
I'll shortly be doing a post of cupcake toppers.. I have found a love for making them and am having so much fun. If there is any toppers you like then don't hesitate to message me for an order. I do any custom toppers, so don't hesitate to ask! xx

Drumkit Cake

Hi everyone!
Here is my newest creation! It was the most delicate cake I have ever made, because I don't have the proper dowling (definately on my wishlist) you could barely move it. I used straws(not smart I know) and yes, I am still learning from my mistakes!!!
The cake is for a friend who had a birthday and happens to be a very good drummer... so here is my first Drummerkit cake! The best part was probably to make a model of my friend as she has bright red hair and a fun sense of style! One of her favourite t-shirts is an elmo-T so had to incorporate that of course! She is a brilliant drummer as well! It was a vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream with sugar paste details. A very classic tasting cake.  So here it is!

I think my favourite part was the elmo t-shirt!

EFY Blackburn Bike ride - Bicycle Cupcakes

So My husband Nick is the leader of this youth group in our church. Once every other year there is a huge convention for the youth that they all look forward to going to from the minuite the last one ends.. that's 2 years of waiting! Now the only problem is the price, it is very expensive to send just one.. so My husband decided to do a different kind of fundraiser. He and 2 other leaders organised a bike ride... not just any bike ride.. a 230 mile bike ride accross the lake district over 6 days. They all went out and found sponsors and then last monday set of on what was to become not just a fundraiser but a life changing experience. These guys had to push through some intense challanges. But that is exactly what they did. They pushed through and came out the better for it.
If you want to take a look at their blog then here is the address  http://especially4youth.blogspot.com/ . You can go on there and sponor or just read about what they are doing. The post about the actual bike ride will be up there shortly with videos and all.

So then there was the homecoming.
We organised a big homecoming party for them. With FOOOOD and a video of their journey and Certificates of completion etc. It was very fun! I ended up making some cupcakes with bicycles on them. They were vanilla cupcakes with chocolate frosting and green coconut flakes.

Take a look!

Ellie's Birthday Party - Barnyard Cake (without the Barn)

Hi!
So My daughter turned 2 yesterday, and since we didn't have a party for her first (a combination of no money and realising that she wont remember it anyway) we decided to have a party for her this time around. So I was looking through some pictures of cakes to give me ideas, most of them were some sort of princess cake or fairy or something like that. Ellie has no idea what a princess is. So after MUCH thinking I came to the conclusion that it has to be some sort of animal cake. Initially I was going to make a big horse, as she loves horses (she is her mothers daughter after all). I decided however that I didn't want to make concentrate on one animal alone , as she really loves them ALL. So the conclusion was this. Two tiers, one Green, one Blue (Grass and Sky) with fencing all around it and grass and flowers and bugs and most importantly ANIMALS!

So I recently bought a couple of decorating tools making this cake a lot easier than it would have been otherwise. For example the flower plungers, some piping nosels,  a no stick board and rollingpin. I am still learning, there are so many things that i see wrong with this cake, but I am still happy with it. It doesn't matter how many youtube videos I watch on how to pit rolled fondant on a cake, I still get frills! So With every cake I make my goal is obviously to something better. At the moment we don't have the finances to pay for decorating classes, so Youtube is my BEST FRIEND! I recommend it to any aspiring cake decorator. I take what I learn from Youtube and adapt it to my own designs. It's GREAT!

Here is a picture of my wonderful family!

Metallic Purple Cake, Cupcakes and Cakepops

Hi!
So this was my first attempt at Cakepops, and it was a messy affair. The first time I do anything though it is definitely not to perfection, so hopefully it will be a bit better next time. Still happy with the result. As was the girl who had ordered them. I had like 10 more cakepops but they fell on the floor and were not usable. It would have made my desired effect better though. But like I said, better next time.

P.s ... The cake inside is Red Velvet and it was my first attempt at it! It was very tasty... So all in all a success, but still room for improvement. This by the way is the cake that made her sister want one for her Sweet 16 from my last post, so I must have done ok at least.
